Julia Chalker

Director

Julia brings 30 years of experience in public education and advocacy for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to her new leadership role at The Arc of DFW Area. As a passionate advocate for inclusivity, she aims to enhance efforts that empower individuals with IDD to lead self-determined lives. Julia's deep commitment is reflected in her personal connection to the cause, being the sister of Bobby, who has autism, her involvement with Sibshops, and a B.S and M.S.Ed. in Special Education and Transition. She recently retired as Transition Coordinator at Prosper ISD, where she led efforts to assist students and families in the transition from school to adult services and supports.

Sanya Bowen

Administrative Assistant

Sanya brings over a decade of experience as an Administrative Assistant, contributing her knack for organization and dynamic presence to her role at The Arc of DFW Area. Her commitment to service is shaped by a life rooted in military values, family, and community advocacy. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sanya takes pride in her enriching family life. During her husband’s 15-year Army career, she received honors including the Dr. Mary E. Walker Award and Yellow Rose of Texas—recognitions she values for affirming the power of service. Her connection to military life began in childhood as a military brat, laying the foundation for her enduring dedication to volunteering and nonprofit work—a focus that remains central to who she is today.
